Zhejiang University Library of Basic Subjects (ZULB) began construct in early 2002, and opened on October 27, 2003. It¡¯s located in the Zijingang Campus, with total area of 23,100 square meters. ZULB¡¯s collections include 382,000 volumes of books, 1800 items of journal and 110 kinds of newspaper, major in areas of basic theory and teaching reference books of humanities and social sciences, natural sciences, engineering technology. There are seven large reading-rooms which provided 1,600 seats and an intensive Stack. The "book recommendation" displayed in the second floor. The Zhejiang University Bank of Publications which contributed by its faculty and alumni is in the 4th floor.
Readers can access of bibliography, the building navigation, how to use the library, retrieval methods, and various kind of knowledge-based and information-based information through the touch-screen system, library¡¯s OPAC( Online Public Access Catalogue) , electronic bulletin system, as well as the information desk in ZULB. The reading room is combined collections, and readers in the reading room in the same library can be easily realized, read, study, retrieval, consultation, and other needs.
Services
ZULB provides circulation services, OPAC, electronic resource and audio-visual materials , reference service.
ZULB provides two kinds of services to loan books: from the circulation section or through self-check system. The loaned books must be returned to the circulation section. ZULB also provides interlibrary loan service, including document delivery and book borrowing. If the material cannot be found within ZJU library, document delivery and book borrowing from other libraries are available.
